Expeditions in the Frontier Reach
The tiny hamlet of Pioneer’s Folly exists just on the very border of the Verdant Kingdom of Quila, where the road through the high pass of the Rammas Menniath range meets the fast flowing Bruinen river. It operates as a base camp for the explorers who wish to make an expedition into the Frontier Reach.
The town was once much larger and more prosperous, long ago and under a different name. Before the Reach was closed, it was a thriving border town, dealing a good trade in the exotic wares coming out of the Reach and serving as a jumping-off point for pioneer caravans heading into the wilderness to establish settlements. When the dangers of the Reach became evident and the flow of pioneers dwindled to just a trickle, the town’s name was changed to Pioneer’s Folly.
Now the town is a scant few businesses surrounded by a dozen or so occupied cottages and a number of vacant and boarded up buildings. Besides the Kind Conjurer tavern, there is a blacksmith and a mill, and a hedge priest tends a small shrine.
